Citymesh was set up in May 2006 by 5 young entrepreneurs namely Mitch De Geest, Frederik Demets, Peter-Jan Pertry, Sven de Brabander and Freek Pauwels. Their ICT background, knowledge and joint interest inspired them to set up a pilot project in Blankenberge. A project for a city communication network based on the multi-radio WiFi-Meshing technology. The success of this pilot project motivated them to definitively establish the city communication network for continuous availability over the whole city and to expand this to other cities, towns and private establishments. Citymesh was recently acknowledged by the IWT (Institute for the encouragement of innovation by Science & Technology in Flanders). |
